Battery Engineer

The Battery Engineer at Roccor is responsible for the architecture, design, analysis, test, and verification of electrical battery systems for spacecraft of all sizes and applications. The battery engineer serves as the key technical point of contact to industry partners which operate on the cutting edge of battery cell technology.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts industry surveys of battery cell technologies, understanding technical advantages and limitations for applications in spacecraft.
  • Develops battery assembly designs and models for use in predicting power supply performance through spacecraft orbital trajectories and spacecraft on-orbit life.

  • Decomposes system level requirements and key performance criteria to the battery system and associated battery components.

Required Competencies

Test Engineer

The Test Engineer interfaces with all functions of engineering as well as program management to aid in coordinating testing efforts for product development and program deliverables. They provide support to design and concepts and prototyping teams to developed test setups for initial functionality demonstration and evaluation. They ensure that proper methods and detail are being applied for a products maturity, and that program reviews are efficient and timely. They develop testing plans that address a given programs requirements and model verification as well as risk mitigation needs. They develop internal protocols and best practice standards to help guide testing efforts at the material coupon level, component and sub system level, and system qualification level at Roccor. Senior level candidates will also provide technical leadership and review at critical stage gates of a program’s development and advise systems engineering and design teams of appropriate levels of testing for program reviews.

Test Technician

Roccor Test Technicians interface with Engineering and Program management to aid in testing efforts for product development and program deliverables. Assist at early stage of program(s) to provide feedback on testing methodology, GSE concept and design, test plan documentation, and support/conduct testing that addresses a given programs requirements. Assume oversight of testing activities to assigned program(s) at Roccor from the material coupon level to system-level deliverable qualification testing. This may include a variety of fabrication, assembly, test and demonstration tasks in support of advanced materials and structures development. The ideal candidate would have experience working on large spacecraft structures and should also be comfortable working with close guidance on R&D projects or independently on “build-to-print” efforts. Duties will occasionally involve working with a variety of potentially hazardous materials (two-part epoxies, acetone, alcohols, acids, cryogens) and potentially dangerous hand/power tools and lab equipment.

Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing engineers design manufacturing processes for different kinds of production processes. They integrate those specificities and constraints posed by the industry or the product being produced with general and wide-spread Manufacturing Engineering principles into the design and planification of manufacturing processes.

Essential Functions

  • Designs tools and machines used to manufacture products.
  • Reviews production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; makes recommendations for repairs or replacement.
  • Oversees the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.
  • Installs new equipment and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate new machinery.
  • Prepares operations manuals for new or existing equipment.

    Roccor is currently seeking a QC Inspector/Material Handler who will be responsible for inspecting incoming materials and assisting with material handling responsibilities. This full-time position supports the Quality and Procurement teams with receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material.
